Use Quick add

Quick add narrows the catalog to nodes compatible with the connection you started.

Open from a handle

Drag from a control or data handle into empty canvas space. Quick add opens for that specific handle and connection kind.

Search or move through the suggested nodes, open help if needed, then choose a candidate. The editor adds the node and creates the valid connection.

1. Select a node and open Quick add, or drag from an available handle.
2. Add a compatible node, move it and undo the addition.

Open with the keyboard

Select one node on the canvas and press Tab. Quick add uses the first available unconnected handle. If no suitable handle or candidate exists, the menu does not invent an invalid connection.

Use Arrow keys to move through options, Enter to choose, and Escape to close.

Understand suggestions

Suggestions respect mode, plan availability, active ports, connection kind, and data compatibility. The editor can suggest a Field node when a structured value must be reduced before reaching a scalar input.

For example, an Event Trigger configured to expose a Trade Tick data output can offer Tick Field. Selecting it adds the node, connects Trade Tick to its matching input, and initially selects the last field. You can then connect the extracted scalar value to a compatible consumer. This connection supplies data; it does not replace the control path needed to execute an action.

Check the result and recover

Inspect the connection and the new node's parameters before continuing. A suggested node may still need configuration or other required inputs. Run validation to see what remains. If the result is not the one you intended, use Undo (Ctrl+Z or Command+Z) and start again from the intended handle.

If Quick add shows no candidate, inspect the source handle and the target you need. A control outcome cannot connect to a data input, and a structured data output may need a Field node before a scalar input. Check whether the port is active for the current parameters, whether another edge already occupies the handle, and whether the node is available in your mode and plan.
